Alun Cochrane is a no-nonsense comedian who specialises in funny nonsense. Much of his comedy begins simply as something he’s seen, heard or felt in his own life, or in the street, or the kitchen, or anywhere and from that it blossoms into a highly amusing anecdote or a strange flight of fancy.
As a headline act or compere, Alun uses his flair for language to blend friendly story-telling, sharp one liners and off the cuff wit. He has a cheeky smile to sweeten even the most revolting tales, seamlessly mixing improvisation with sharply honed material and occasionally throwing in a brilliantly accurate impersonation.
Building on his reputation for reliably strong performances, Alun has notched up a number of TV credits including Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow, Have I Got News for You, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Mock the Week, Live at The Comedy Store and Dave’s One Night Stand. He has also had acting roles in Not Going Out and We Are Klang.
In 2011, Alun became a full-time presenter on Frank Skinner’s Absolute Radio show and has also featured on Just a Minute, The Now Show, 4 Stands Up and Clive Anderson’s Chat Room.
Rarely have such random musings been elevated to this level of hilarious artistry
The brilliantly wry award winning comic Chris Stokes has been performing stand-up professionally since 2009. His career has seen him support the likes of Milton Jones, Pete Firman and Stewart Francis on tour, appear on Dave’s One Night Stand, BBC Radio 4, 5Live and Radio X and take four critically acclaimed solo shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
With an hilarious and erudite turn of phrase, Chris has been described as playing on social misconceptions and dismantling them both on stage and on the page via gag-packed first-hand anecdotes told with a charming and offbeat sincerity.
As well as a stand-up and writer, Chris is also a talented actor having started in a number of plays, both comedy and drama and is also one quarter of new sketch comedy group The Mitford Sisters.
Very gifted … has the talent to one day have the world at his feet
Ultra working class and totally adorable, Josh Jones is a high-energy performer who wins the audience over from the off. This super camp Manchester lad, can tackle a range of subjects from school yard politics to gay rights in Pakistan and is able to improvise on the fly creating razor sharp observations.
A comic who can have the audience in the palm of his hands whilst also being able to beautifully disarm any heckler with his quick wit and cute but powerful put downs, Josh is an exceptional gag writer and performer with something to say.
A very engaging personality, and a back-story that should keep him in routines for years to come
One of the most confident and playful compères on the circuit, Lou Conran has the ability to judge a room and pitch her performance perfectly.
Witty, naughty and with a touch of the Victoria Wood about her, Lou started stand-up comedy in 2006 and has gigged regularly ever since. Along with performing at many of the country’s biggest comedy clubs and festivals, she has also supported Sarah Millican and Puppetry of the Penis on their national tours.
