Be ready for pretty much anything when Jason Cook takes to the stage. Behind his cheerful Geordie exterior lurks a sharp, intriguing comedic mind.
In 2007, Jason took his first solo stand up show to the fringe, selling out for the bulk of the run, and earning five star reviews. He then embarked on a sell out world tour and scooped the coveted Best International Show at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, an award previously won by Eddie Izzard and Stephen K Amos.
In 2012 Jason’s sitcom Hebburn was commissioned by the BBC for a full series on BBC2 starring Vic Reeves, Gina McKee, Chris Ramsey, Kimberley Nixon and Jason himself.
In addition to his own TV success Jason has also appeared on The World Stands Up, Dave’s One Night Stand, Live at The Comedy Store and Russell Howard’s Good News.
Jason Cook has more funny in his middle toe than most comics do in their whole body
Funny, inspiring and absurd in equal measure, cross-genre stand-up comedian and anarchic chef George Egg’s uniquely brilliant act is as much a comedy set as it is an illustrated lecture. George Egg is the comedian who cooks.
Unique and genre-defining, he makes food onstage using unexpected equipment and unconventional methods. And he makes you laugh too. In 2015, George took his debut solo show ‘Anarchist Cook’ to the Edinburgh Fringe. The show, a comical guide on how-to-cook-in-a-hotel-room, was a total sell out and won him the Spirit of the Fringe Award. This success was followed by a two-year tour of the show that took him to Holland, Estonia, Norway and New Zealand as well as extensively in the UK including two runs at London’s Soho Theatre and another sell out run at Edinburgh Fringe 2016.
In 2017, George returned to Edinburgh with his follow-up second show ‘DIY Chef’ where this time he cooked in a shed using power tools. It was another total sell out and the springboard for a second tour.
George has appeared (and cooked) on BBC Radio 4’s Loose Ends and has enjoyed numerous appearances on BBC Radio 4 Extra.
The brilliantly wry award winning comic Chris Stokes has been performing stand-up professionally since 2009. His career has seen him support the likes of Milton Jones, Pete Firman and Stewart Francis on tour, appear on Dave’s One Night Stand, BBC Radio 4, 5Live and Radio X and take four critically acclaimed solo shows to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
With an hilarious and erudite turn of phrase, Chris has been described as playing on social misconceptions and dismantling them both on stage and on the page via gag-packed first-hand anecdotes told with a charming and offbeat sincerity.
As well as a stand-up and writer, Chris is also a talented actor having started in a number of plays, both comedy and drama and is also one quarter of new sketch comedy group The Mitford Sisters.
Very gifted … has the talent to one day have the world at his feet
