Famed and respected by his peers for his uncompromising and unusual approach and distinctly original routines, Gavin boasts a large cult following round the country, particularly on his native Tyneside where he sells out theatres with his one man ninety minute shows.
After making his modest debut in a pub in Gateshead in February 1993 Gavin has done over three thousand gigs from Aberdeen to Abu Dhabi, Manchester to Melbourne and Hartlepool to Hong Kong where his hard edged routines, quick-fire pastiche pieces, moronic jokes and sardonic songs, have earned him critical praise and attention and made him an instant favourite with audiences across the world.
Gavin’s TV credits include Never Mind the Buzzcocks, The Stand-Up Show and Live at the Comedy Store. On top of that he provided the writing and was also one of the regular voices in both series of BBC1’s A Walk On The Wild Side with Jason Manford in 2009 and 2010.
Gavin is also part of the cast for Radio 4’s The Show What You Wrote, has supported Jack Dee and Phill Jupitus on national tours and, in 2014, he was crowned Comedian’s Comedian of the Year for his consistently great performances on the stand-up circuit.
Funny, clever and as brilliantly observed as you’ll find
Comedian, writer and filmaker Alasdair Beckett-King is a previous winner of both the prestigious New Act of the Year (formerly Hackney Empire) and the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year competitions. He has also reached the finals of the Laughing Horse New Act, Leicester Square Theatre New Comedian and So You Think You’re Funny?
Following these early successes, Alasdair has featured regularly on BBC radio as a comedian and sketch writer. He has performed stand-up across the UK, in the Glastonbury Cabaret Tent and at the Edinburgh Fringe.
Alasdair knows quite a lot about 19th century magicians and tourists often ask to have their photo taken with him, presumably impressed by this.
Delicious writing and exceptional observations
Sweet as chocolate and twice as dark, Rachel’s comedy treads the line between kitchen sink confessional and a bleakness unmatched by her peers. A finalist of several prestigious competitions including Funny Women, City Life Comedian of the Year, NATYs, English Comedian of the Year and the Welsh Unsigned Stand Up Award she can move from amiable and engaging comedy to serial killers in the same sentence.
As well as gigging up and down the country, Rachel co-hosts and co-writes the popular serial killer themed podcast All Killa No Filla. In just over 18 months it has acquired tens of thousands of listeners around the world and live shows have been in high demand.
Rachel also guest-starred on a recent episode of the anarchic panel show, Panel Beaters hosted by Gary Delaney and Caimh McDonnell.
Darkly hilarious Wunderkind
Deliciously unhinged, Phil’s performances are entirely unique. Audiences quickly become enraptured by his maverick charm, his ability to think on his feet meaning there is always a slight twist to his set, making each appearance fresh and thrilling.
Known for his chaotic stand-up and live performances, Phil broke onto the comedy scene with his widely acclaimed Edinburgh show, ‘Funz and Gamez’, which won the Panel Prize at the 2014 Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Awards.
Phil is now making his way in TV, recording a pilot of Funz and Gamez with the BBC alongside credits on Drunk History, The Tapeface Tapes and Phil’s Ill: Dave’s Comedy Shorts.
Ellis sets such a cracking pace … he flits around the audience with his frisky, easy banter spreading a feeling of good-humoured fun
